AliExpress’ Double Eleven sale event
China’s Singles’ Day sale, also known as 11.11 is the biggest e-commerce event in the Chinese year known to drive over $9 billion in sales revenue in the one day. By comparison, Cyber Monday in the US last year drove $2.29 billion.
This year AliExpress and Tmall Global were involved, bringing Singles’ Day bargains to consumers in the US. AliExpress launched their Double Eleven sale event with over 1 million items carrying discounts of up to 50%.
To further user engagement, AliExpress built interactive games allowing shoppers to play to win bigger discounts in the form of e-coupons to use on site.
By pushing the Double Eleven sale event heavily, AliExpress and Webgains identified key publishers both discount and voucher publishers and also publishers with users in key Chinese demographics. In doing so, the program saw an uplift of over 1100% over the Double Eleven period.
